Stereosonic Australia 2017

Stereosonic has grown into a large set of music festivals since its conception in 2007. From its humble beginnings in Melbourne nightclubs to its successful venture expanding five states, Stereosonic has quickly become a bucket list rave any EDM head would want to attend. Let’s not forget about the weather! While Americans retreat to their homes as a result of the winter blues, Australians and tourists alike rage to the generous warmth and sunshine. Summer begins in December; as all festival goers understand, summer is prime festival season.

Not only does the event hosts some of the biggest names in the electronic dance music industry – such as Calvin Harris, Tiesto and Diplo – Stereosonic is produced at five different locations; no matter where you’re located on the continent, the festival is a short flight or train ride away. From Western and South Australia to the east in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria, Stereosonic has made a remarkable impression on Australian music culture.

Sydney Showground is the events section at Sydney Olympic Park. With seven stages, one including an open-air arena that fills with trippy lasers and light shows at night, Sydney Showground is the most popular and largest venue for Stereosonic.

Claremont Showground in Perth, Western Australia is the only venue in the state that has its own dedicated railway station. This user-friendly public transport system is a festival goer essential.

The Royal Adelaide Showground in South Australia is the state’s largest multi-purpose venue, but also one of the most sustainable. The showground’s solar power generator is the largest urban solar power project in Australia, with a power generating capacity of one megawatt (that’s a lot of solar-powered lightshows).

Big on space, big on versatility and big on features. That’s Melbourne Showgrounds’ motto and it couldn’t be any more true. The venue sits near the Maribyrnong River and presents a stunning view of the city.

Brisbane has been revered as Australia’s most liveable city, with blissful weather ideal for urban exploration, retail therapy and relaxation. There are only six stages at Stereosonic, without any Silent Discos.

There’s a plethora of reasons why we love DJs so much. Not only do they produce amazing sounds that make our hearts thump and fists pump, but DJs express their personalities and stories to an audience that is passionate about what they do. However the gap between the DJs and the barricade prevents the fans from getting to know them on a deeper level. Stereosonic features editorials, highlights and exclusives for each of its artists online. From “would you rather” and “what’s your favorite” to “what’s your guilty pleasure” types of questions, fanatics can experience Stereosonic artists on a more intimate level.

Stereosonic 2009 was the first festival to be hosted in five cities. Deadmau5, Fedde Le Grand, Umek and The Bloody Beetroots were among the DJs who performed at this event. Over 60,000 ravers attended the sold-out Stereosonic Sydney in 2011, making it the largest festival ever held in Australia. In 2013, Stereosonic expanded to two days across all five cities. This expansion brought more international artists throughout the weekend while attracting potential festival goers and travelers alike.
